Amsterdam Arena Stadium

The Amsterdam Arena, an all-weather stadium with a sliding roof which can be closed in 35 minutes, was built in the mid-1990s in preparation for Holland's hosting of the Euro 2000 soccer tournament. It is now the home stadium of Holland's most famous football team, Ajax, who achieved the rare feat in the early 1970s of winning the European Cup three years in a row. Ajax just to play their home matches at Stadium De Meer (Holly ground) or the Olympic stadium, When I was 16 years old I joined Ajax as a player and reached the second team (semi professional) I think it had more atmosphere, since Ajax moved to the Amsterdam Arena the results are not so good. Stadium tours last about an hour and take you into the stands and behind the scenes to the press gallery, interview rooms and hospitality suites. The Ajax museum has film of the home team's great cup wins. They built the Arena on land that was not good for growing grass and they've spent a fortune trying to figure out how to grow grass that will not be wiped out after games or even from the weather. To get tickets for the matches is a real problem first of all you need a club card and most of all the tickets are already sold in the beginning of the seizoen. The stadium is also used for the bigger concerts, I've been to the Stones, Springsteen, Bowie, anyway is worth a visit.
