Coffee shops in Amsterdam:

Whether you fancy a coffee or a smoke-or even both, visit one (or more) of Amsterdams euphemistically named ‘coffeeshops’!! Full of character and fully legalised to sell marijuana/cannabis for personal use.
There is no pressure to try or buy anything-simply ordering a cup of coffee is quite acceptable!
The strict drug laws that lots of countries from all over the World have, and the stigma attached to them, it is great to see a less conservative approach to the subject.
No political agendas here, just an average middle of the road person that can appreciate a different culture's view on a subject.
Lots of people who smoke will say that drinking alcohol does more damage than smoking a joint, they are right because Marijuana/cannabis are soft drugs and alcohol isn’t, the combination is not so good that is why that coffee shops don’t serve alcohol, well in most places it’s not allowed

I’m not a smoker myself but I know from friends that Amsterdam coffee shops deliver the best quality
Marijuana/cannabis in Europe, you can purchase the weed and hash from a menu that lists the strains and the prices per gram. Basically, for about 10 Euro. Or less, you can buy enough weed to knock you on your butt for a day or two. The "dealers" in the coffee shops are very knowledgeable and can advise customers on what strains of cannabis give what kinds of highs. Most of the strains were developed by medical marijuana growers. Just don't buy drugs on the streets. Stick to the coffee shops. And don't try to take any with you when you leave.
High on everybody’s list is the Grey Area (Oude Lelistraat 2). It is the only coffee shop owned by Americans and while it is quite small the owners are GREAT!
Also the Rookies near the Leidseplein has a good name, and of course the Grasshopper there are two, one one on the Damrak thats a big one with three floors and a smaller one on the Nieuwezijdsvoorburgwal.
So sit back, relax, and enjoy one of Amsterdam's distinctive experiences!

Dutch word for “Mushroom “is paddestoel Hallucinogenic mushrooms are now a must in Amsterdam. The Dutch newspapers reported already deadly casualties with "magic mushrooms" among tourists. Owners of coffee shops will be obliged to hire skilled botanists in order to avoid further lethal cases. There are no rules in preparation by the authorities of Amsterdam on the sale of pad do’s in what they call "smart shops":
The responsible ministers of health and justice have decided to put pad do’s under the opium law = prohibition. The "smart shops" organisation "De Vereniging Landelijk Overleg Smart shops" (sic) is furious.
Anyway be very careful if you take the magic Mushrooms, especially in combination with alcohol.
