Parks in Amsterdam.

Vondelpark is very close to all hotels round the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, and there is a entrance on the Leidseplein and you walk straight into the centre of Amsterdam. It is popular with joggers and roller-bladers, and is a nice place to stroll around. It isn't a pretty park - the flower displays are virtually non-existent - but if you need a bit of greenery to lift your spirits, this is the place to come. There are a couple of nice cafes where you can sit and people-watch for an afternoon.
Take a stroll or down some beers in the Vondelpark. It is known as the Central Park of Holland. During a beautiful day, half of Holland is lounging at Vondelpark...sunbathing, rollerblading, biking and even playing volleyball. During the summer months, there are free concerts and performances at the outdoor pavilion. Visit the Blauwe Teehaus (I botched the Dutch spelling for Blue Tea House badly) where the yuppies hang and compare the latest fashion. A terrific place to relax and people watch, a favorite pastime in Amsterdam cause the ladies are beautiful here. During the summer, on Thursday nights, there are outdoor movies near the Film Museum. Here's a picture of the park on a nice day.
I prefer the Westerpark,a lot of tourist don’t know this park because its not in the tourist district but its beatifull. There are some nice Restaurants and in the summer there are live concerts and lots of entertainment on the main field, there is also a farm for children with lots of animals. The main entrance is just of the Haarlemerplein and it takes you right into Spaarnwoude and through Spaarnwoude you can reach Ijmuiden (beatifull beach),its a little bit far to walk from Amsterdam Westerpark all the way to Ijmuiden but with a bike is a nice way to spend the day,you will pass the beatifull village Spaarndam
Amsterdam Bos is lovely to. Really worth the trip outside the city. It only takes about 20 minutes to reach by bus, and you could easily spend a whole day here. You can rent a bike, walk or even jog if you're feeling fit! Its a huge man made woodland with animals, streams, open spaces etc. Take plenty of water with you, as you can walk a long way without seeing anywhere to buy food and drink from. If you visit on a nice day why not take a picnic too? This is also a fabulous place for plane lovers, as it is directly under the flight path of Schiphol airport.
Take your meal and drinks and enjoy.
